People who start martial arts are taught that martial arts training is a high level education. Students of martial arts typically out perform non-martial artist academically.
Martial arts teaches goal setting and goal attainment. Most people have the first goal of earning their Black Belt. This process in any quality martial arts program takes around 4 years. The process of attaining the goal of black belt has several other short-term goals providing many opportunities to learn goal management. The end result of attaining a black belt is a high level of physical athletic skill, physical fitness, mental strength, emotional strength, and the ability to defend yourself if needed.
